Joanne founded Livy Consulting in 2022. She holds an honours BA from Queen's University, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and is currently completing her PhD in Canadian political and military history at Queen's.
 
In her professional career, Joanne worked for Historica Canada researching, producing, and marketing the famous Heritage Minutes series. She went on to work for Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP as an event, marketing, and client relations coordinator. 

Joanne has extensive travel experience, which drives her love of history around the world. Currently she is a research fellow at the North American & Arctic Defence and Security Network, the Canadian Defence and Security Network, and is a member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute.

An accomplished public speaker, Joanne speaks at academic conferences, corporate events, fundraisers, and professional development retreats. She is also published writer, with her most recent bylines appearing in Chatelaine and The Hub. 

She has volunteered with Heritage Toronto, The Bishop Strachan School Alumnae Association, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada where she served on the Executive Leadership Committee, St. Michael's Hospital Foundation, and is a past-president of the Graduate History Students' Association at Queen's University.
